Elder Muelleck got a bad case of the “Sparkling Water Blues,” and asked me if I couldn’t write a song about how he was feeling. Then the next day he asked again. It snowed that night, and so I didn’t go on my normal morning walk. I normally play 2 of my songs to myself each morning before doing some exercises and then going on a walk. Since I was not going on a walk, I looked up “Beijing City Blues,” and used it as the basis for writing down some sarcastic comments about carbon-dioxide and sea level rise and what it seemed like Elder Muelleck was feeling. After I sang it for him, he kept talking about how much he liked it, and how the talent scouts are surely going to get me on The Ed Sullivan Show. My response was to ask, “Do you have a time-machine?”
